About SHS
Welcome to the School of Health Sciences
Meru University of Science and Technology (MUST)
The School of Health Sciences (SHS) at Meru University of Science and Technology has a rich history rooted in academic excellence and leadership in public health. Originally established as the Department of Public Health under the School of Pure and Applied Sciences (SPAS), the School of Health Sciences was officially inaugurated in 2012. The founding Dean, Prof. Eric Muchiri, served from 2012 to 2014 and laid a strong foundation for the School’s development.
At inception, the School comprised a single department, Public Health, led by its first Chair, Ms. Caroline Karani, who served from 2012 to 2014. Over the years, SHS has grown under the stewardship of several distinguished Deans. The current Dean, Dr. Patrick Kinyua Kubai, continues this legacy of visionary leadership.
In response to growing demand and specialisation in healthcare education, the School of Health Sciences was later restructured, leading to the establishment of the School of Nursing in the year 2016.
